Members of the Philippine Accounting Standards Council (ASC) recently attended a two day conference of accounting standard setters entitled, IFRS Implementation: Experience around the World and IASB and Regional Standard Setters Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event was hosted by the Indonesian Accounting Standards Board of Dewan Standar Akuntasi Keuangan (DSAK).

The conference was an opportunity for ASC members to meet representatives of accounting standard setters in other ASEAN countries and to share their experiences in the implementation of IFRS. ASC chairman Carlos Alindada served as a panelist in the session on the implementation of employee benefit accounting in ASEAN countries. International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) chairman Sir David Tweedie, gave updates on the work program of the IASB, and IASB liaison member Warren McGregor discussed major technical projects of the IASB.
