PICPA Celebrates 2009 accountancy week
Allow me to express my warmest greetings to the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) as you celebrate Accountancy Week and your momentous 80th Founding Anniversary.

I am confident that this week-long gathering, with the theme, "Live it Up ... the Spirit of PICPA,"  will be a venue for you to eloquently express your thoughts and ideas for the creation of an enabling environment for the accountancy profession. It will be you define and understand the issues that public accountants face today especially in the battle against global recession, new corporate governance regulations and the increased emphasis on greater transparency within public, private and non-profit organizations.

In the light of the political and socio-economic challenges facing the world today, there is interest and global preference for accounting practitioners with multi-disciplined backgrounds and specialty trainings, those who bridge accountancy and information technology, those who acquire foreign language skills, and those who have the ability to lead and communicate.  I am confident that you will continue to practice the profession of public accountancy using the technical tools and skills required for effective professional practice as you continue to be abreast of new developments and advances in the field.

As I have always advocated, Sipag at Tiyaga will definitely help uplift the lives of our fellow Filipinos, with the help of dynamic accountants like you who are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to become successful participants in your field here and around the globe.

Mabuhay po kayo!
