SCHOLARSHIP AND EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE
PICPA is committed to provide assistance to poor but deserving students who are interested to enter the CPA profession in the future. The Program includes inviting interested PICPA members to donate so that many students can avail of the benefit. This committee is tasked to invite donors and to implement the Program that includes scholarship, study grants and/or study loans given to deserving accounting students following a careful selection process. The committee is also responsible to monitor the performance of scholars as well as in communicating to scholar’s significant PICPA events and in encouraging their participation to such events.
FUNCTIONS
- Develop various types of program on scholarship, study grants and educational loans specifying, among others, coverage, criteria and selection procedures
- Implement duly-approved programs covering the evaluation of the candidates or applicants and monitoring their performances.
- Continuously evaluate existing programs and recommend continuance / discontinuance and improvements thereon.
- Develop on the job programs for the scholars for their training during Christmas, semester or vacation breaks. This program should aim in assisting our scholars in learning more about PICPA and the CPA profession.
- Promote and encourage donors to fund our scholarship programs.
- Document properly and publicize the plans, programs and activities of the committee.
- Develop linkages with other foundations, organizations and schools that are ready to provide scholarships and educational assistance.
- Involve the PICPA scholars in appropriate PICPA functions and activities at the national, regional and chapter levels.
- Create a permanent file of PICPA scholars and monitor their progress after graduation as a way of measuring the success of the Program.
- Report periodically to the Board, the status and progress of its programs.
- Develop the committee’s Plans and Budget for the year for approval of the Liaison Director and for submission during the Annual Planning Conference.
