ANNUAL NATIONAL CONVENTION
This is the major event of the Institute being the most attended; and the most especially planned. Over the years, the ANC attendance continues to increase and the preparation becomes more and more complex. The venue and logistical support, the convention theme and technical sessions, the attendance and other activities are of key considerations for the success in the holding of the ANC. As part of its objectives, the ANC should be able to bring in new knowledge and enhanced competency to the members. It should serve as a venue for discussions of current development and issues confronting each sector and the profession, in general. The technical program is designed in consultation with sectoral leaders. The ANC should include topics that will empower, inspire and motivate the accountants to practice his profession in a very meaningful and ethical manner and within or even beyond the expectations of the publics we are serving. The ANC should serve as a venue for fellowship and camaraderie among members.
The ANC is a major revenue generating activity of the Institute and provides material revenue and expenses ` in our consolidated financial reports. There are policies involving franchising to a host chapter ,allocation of the ANC’s net income as well as the appropriate financial reporting and documentation and the required period within which the reports and supporting documents are completed and submitted to the Board.. The Committee should see to it that these policies are strictly complied with.
Our present practice of allowing the ANC held in different places and hosted by chapters or regions is within the spirit of shared responsibility and participation in our major activities. The PICPA host chapter and designated officers should be given adequate role and functions which should be a part of the overall ANC organization chart.
This committee is tasked to ensure that there is adequate ANC planning and preparation and proper implementation and that our policies for the holding of the ANC are strictly complied with.
