COMELEC
The COMELEC is the independent body that protects the sanctity and integrity of the electoral process. Generally, the Comelec is tasked to supervise the conduct of elections for National Directors, Regional Officers, Regional Sectoral Representatives and Chapter Officers to ensure that election is done in an efficient and effective manner. There shall be nine members who will serve for a term of three years.
FUNCTIONS
- Periodically review and evaluate for effectiveness and efficiency of the present electoral procedures and promulgate and implement the appropriate rules and regulations necessary as a result of such review and evaluation.
- See to it that the spirit of the By-Laws and all the legal requirements are strictly followed in the electoral exercise.
- Determine the qualified candidates and inform the members with complete candidates lists.
- Coordinate with the Publication Committee for the early publication of all necessary information at the earliest possible time.
- Settle issues or conflicts brought before the Comelec.
- Validate the canvassing of votes and declare the official winners.
- Actively participate in regional meetings and conferences.
- Continuously update members regarding PICPAs electoral process through the PICPA publications and by participating in Chapter Presidents meetings and in regional and monthly membership meetings.
- Develop the COMELEC Plans and Budget for approval of the Liaison Director and for submission during the Annual Event Conference.
