PUBLICATION

This committee is responsible in ensuring that the publications of our technical and professional magazines (The Accountants’ Journal and its newsletter, the Accounting Times) are within our professional standards and are delivered to the members on a timely and regular basis. The Committee is also responsible in continuously creating a web-based presence where the online edition of the publication can be assessed and downloaded. The online edition is to be kept updated and open to all PICPA members and PICPA homepage visitors. Publications are intended to create awareness of our policies and procedures as well as new developments in our profession and in our Institute, within and outside the country. Publications are viewed as a major visible service to our members. .

FUNCTIONS

  1. Develop a master plan indicating technical papers for publication, considering topics discussed in the annual national convention, or in the geographic, regional and membership meetings, in consultation with the Professional Development and Research and other appropriate committees.

  2. Solicit materials for publications based on the above; undertake steps as necessary to ensure that all publications solicited or not or as submitted by sectors, region, chapters and committees or other parties are done within our professional standards in terms of contents and presentation; make sure that these are of high quality; free from errors and pass through careful screening and editing process; obtain technical and events materials from IFAC, CAPA , AFA and from other accountancy bodies , technical literature like CFO, etc., provided permission is to reprint is granted .

  3. Undertake all necessary steps, including revisions of present procedures, if needed to make sure that all our publications are released and delivered regularly to our members on a timely basis and at the least cost possible.

  4. Review and evaluate our editorial policies and make the necessary suggestions if these policies are to be modified or change. See to it that our editorial policies are adhered to at all times.

  5. Develop a corresponding marketing plan to promote the publications and circulation and improve revenues from advertising, publications and sales.

  6. Assist in other PICPA publications.

  7. Create a publication section for the PICPA website (in the medium term, a separate domain may be registered for the publication) and server space.

  8. Develop the web-based publication’s look /design and regular content (including news, editorial, and research studies, among others). Assign a staff to handle website maintenance.

  9. Develop the Committee’s Plans and Budget for the year for approval by the Liaison Director and for submission during the Annual Planning Conference.
